We had another great year at the City of El Cerrito's Annual Event. We had our usual F R E E Tree Raffle , and gave away 4 Free trees this year to EL Cerrito residents. Plus we gave away valuable information on How to plant a tree, How to Re-leaf your community, How to care for a young tree, Proper Pruning Methods, Urban Forestry info, and MUCH More! This was a very fun event was a great day for the whole family!

FRIDAY, JULY 4, 2003 - Over 100 people visited our booth, signed our petitions, signed up to win a free tree, picked up educational information, and showed enthusiastic support for the group. Most people expressed a need for more trees in El Cerrito. This year we gave away 3 FREE trees. Two trees were donated by Home Depot and one by East Bay Nursery. Thank you for your donations! The happy winners were thrilled to be chosen for our "Free Tree Raffle" . Happy planting to you! Thank you to all who participated!

Friends of El Cerrito Trees is happy to announce that our Tree Planting Parties on Richmond Street and at Tassajara Park were a HUGE Success!! A BIG THANK YOU to all who volunteered, planted trees, and helped to make the events run smoothly!! We are especially grateful to the City of El Cerrito's Maintenance Department for all of their over-time work and support. A Very SPECIAL THANK YOU to Arborist Steve Batchelder and Peter Rudy for donating their time. We planted approximately 50 trees in the parking strips along Richmond Street (between Stockton to Potrero) and at 2 El Cerrito Parks. We also received great media coverage from our local newspapers the Contra Costa Times, The Journal, and Television Coverage from ABC Channel 7 News. Thanks again to all who helped out. Hope to see you at our next event!

Our table at the City of El Cerrito's 4th of July Celebration in 2002 was a big success! We achieved our purpose of signing up lots of people who want to join the group and asked to be on our mailing list. We spread information about our group including pamphlets on tree planting and care, benefits of trees, and the California ReLEAF Newsletter. Those of us who attended the table felt that we also generated enthusiasm and attracted attention and interest beyond our expectations! Many of the people who stopped by talked with us at length and expressed their strong support. About 60 people signed up, and over 80 entered our "free tree" raffle. The two winners of the raffle were both enthusiastic people who were very happy to win the trees for planting. Thank you to all who participated!
